| The need for charitable airline tickets for patients traveling to distant specialized medical evaluation, diagnosis or treatment continues to grow.
During the previous year, programs administered by Mercy Medical Airlift provided almost 10,000 free airline tickets to financially-stressed patients, but many more were required. Unfortunately, resources to assist all were not available.

 Richard was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer - a condition not that uncommon, particularly for older patients. The only place where the special bone-marrow work could be done for Richard was at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle.
Richard is 72 years old and with his wife lives on Social Security and a small pension. Multiple round trips via the airlines to Seattle was out of the question. The couple simply had no funds to pay for tickets. The 10% senior citizen discount didn't make much difference.
Donated frequent flyer miles enabled the couple to obtain airline tickets for a flight from Philadelphia to the West Coast. Richard is doing well with his bone marrow transplant.
